ABSTRACT

Obesity is the most common problem among the teenagers nowadays. This is because of the latest trend that the teenagers are following- watching television, playing games and surfing net. No physical exercises, eating lots of dairy products and maintaining eating habits.

This study aims to assess the impact of obesity on the quality of life of overweight teenagers. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions: 1.) what is the demographic profile of the participants in terms of age, gender, weight and height? 2.) To what extent are the participants aware of the risks of obesity along physical, emotional, psychological and social functioning? 3.) What main factors contribute to the participants for becoming obese? 4.) What problems are
experienced by the participants for being obese? and 5.)What measures may be offered to improve the quality of life of the participants leading to a healthy lifestyle?

This study is qualitative - exploratory in nature and utilized interview as the method of data collection for such research. A face-to-face interview was conducted which was audio-taped and transcribed verbatim.
