Summary

This study sought to determine the self-medication belief's and practices among residents in Barangay Buyoan, Legazpi City. This study established the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, educational attainment, occupation and family monthly income to know its relationship to other variables and indicators. It determined their extent of awareness of the benefits and risksof self-medication, their practices on self-medication, potential factors that influenced them to self-medicate and problems they experienced in relation to self-medication. After which, measures are provided in order to augment the level of awareness of the respondents on the risks of self- medications which will guide them practice responsible self-medication. The study is anchored on Cameron's Self-Regulation Theory and Orem's Self Care theory, and is specifically focused on making changes with regard to the practice of self-medication in Brgy. Buyoan. It employed the response of 89 respondents to be able to have a
proper and in-depth assessment of their self-medicating practices.
